80 charges laid in major Thunder Bay drug bust

Two Greater Toronto Area residents and one Quebec resident are among those charged in an investigation into a network suspected of trafficking drugs from the GTA into Thunder Bay.

As a result of the investigation, officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service seized the following from residences on Egan Street and Secord Street:

  • Three loaded handguns
  • Ammunition and extended magazines
  • 290 g suspected cocaine
  • 220 g suspected crack cocaine
  • $3,900 in Canadian currency
  • Six cell phones
  • Two digital scales

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $40,000.

Seven individuals were arrested and charged with a combined 80 firearms and drug trafficking offences.

The OPP asks anyone with information about illegal firearms or the possession, manufacturing or trafficking of illicit drugs should police at 1-888-310-1122. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
