8 people facing charges following drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay

A drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay has led to several arrests and the seizure of illicit drugs.

Officers searched two homes and a vehicle in the community as part of the investigation on Tuesday.

A vehicle identified as part of the investigation was stopped by police on Highway 11/17 east of Thunder Bay.

Two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken into custody.

Later in the day, homes on Picton Avenue and Donald Street were searched.

Searches of those residences led to six people being arrested and taken into custody.

During the searches, police seized quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and cash.

As a result, a 20-year-old from Toronto and a 23-year-old from Scarborough are facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The 23-year-old is also facing two failure to comply with a release order charges.

A 22-year-old from southern Ontario, a 28-year-old from Thunder Bay and a 19-year-old from Scarborough have been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

A 19-year-old from Pickering, a 26-year-old from Oshawa, and a 50-year-old from Thunder Bay have also been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

All of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
