Police Want To Be More Diverse

Thunder Bay Police want to be more diverse when hiring new police officers.

Acting Police Chief Sylvie Hauth tells us it’s important the community feels they are represented by the people on the force.

“You want people to be able to see themselves in the service. You are a member of our community, and if you can say of our force there’s a lot of women, there are a lot of Indigenous people, a lot of visible minorities. It could result in better relationships.”

A report presented to the police service board highlighted the need for more Indigenous civilian members.
