Watch: Valley Girl Finally Gets A Music Video

Back in 1982, MTV and music videos as a whole, were a big deal. In fact, pretty much any song released as a single had a music video created for it at that time. Frank Zappa was never one to follow trends so the only song he ever had to hit the charts, Valley Girl, (#32 on the Billboard Hot 100) didn’t actually have a video. That’s been fixed though, and the results are pretty funny, just like Zappa himself! The song features spoken word pieces by Zappa’s daughter, Moon Unit and was featured on Zappa’s album ‘Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch’. While Zappa may never have had much in the way of mainstream success, the song has stuck around as somewhat of a cult hit curiosity over the years. Check out the video below!

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
