Election Candidates To Debate In Thunder Bay Next Week

Those who have put their name on the ballot for the June provincial election will gather in Thunder Bay next week.

The Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers Support Group is putting on the public debates on Tuesday, May 10th at the Moose Hall (Thunder Bay-Superior North) and on Thursday, May 12th at the DaVinci Centre (Thunder Bay-Atikokan).

“We have contacted all of the candidates, and we do have confirmation from a number of them so far,” said Treasurer Steve Mantis. “At this moment, we are still fine-tuning the formats of the debates. There will be the opportunity for an opening and closing statement from each candidate. We will also take questions from the public in attendance. We are also looking at some rapid-fire questions that candidates can quickly answer yes or no, to get some other items covered on the agenda in a quick way.”

Both debates get going at 7:00 p.m.

You are encouraged to wear masks but it is not mandatory and there will be spacing to ensure social distancing in both facilities.

Election Day will be Thursday, June 2nd
