A pair of projects in Thunder Bay are getting a financial injection from Ottawa.
The latest investment from the Government of Canada includes $750,000 for the North Core Downtown Streetscapes Revitalization project. The money will support phase one of the initiative, which includes underground infrastructure upgrades and rebuilding the streetscape on Court Street from Wilson Street to Park Avenue.
There’s also $500,000 being made available to the Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre to construct a 45,500-square-foot all-season racquet sport facility.
“Building up community infrastructure is vital to the long-term success of Thunder Bay, municipalities and First Nation communities across Northwestern Ontario,” remarked Mayor Bill Mauro. “In addition to the regional benefits of today’s announcement, we are pleased that $1.2 million will support our downtown revitalization project and the construction of an all-season racquet-sport facility here at home in Thunder Bay.”
The federal government is contributing almost 11 million dollars through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF).
