Thunder Bay Students Will Need Masks In 2022

A joint effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 will become mandatory in the lower grades of school.

All students from kindergarten to grade 12 in the Lakehead Public School Board and Catholic District School Board will need to wear either a cloth mask or medical mask while indoors at the school starting on Monday, January 3rd.

The rule will also apply to riding buses or being in any school vehicle.

Also in the New Year, if students are unable to maintain physical distance from others on outdoor breaks, it is advised that they keep their mask on. If this is not possible, then mask breaks can be taken outside while students are with members of their cohort.

Currently the rule only applies to kids starting in Grade 1.
