The Return Of Spectators To School Sports

Welcoming back fans in the stands at school sporting events.

Both the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and Lakehead Public Schools made the announcement Wednesday with the Superior Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

Each student athlete will be allowed two spectators as of Tuesday, November 16th with parents and guardians being prioritized, and remaining spots will be open to the public on a first come first served basis.

The Rules

  • Attendees must complete and pass the Ontario COVID-19 school and child care screening
  • Proof of full vaccination must be shown at the door
  • Medical masks must be worn properly to cover the mouth and nose at all times
  • Family groups must sit together and ensure distancing from others.

Spectators can attend the facility no more than 30 minutes prior to game start time and contact tracing will be conducted at the door.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
