UPDATE: Kam River Park Water Rescue

A man is being treated at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after being rescued from the waters at Kaministiquia River Heritage Park.

Superior North EMS as well as Thunder Bay Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene around 4:45 p.m. Monday.

Police indicate that one of their own jumped into the river to prevent the drowning.

After initially resisting the efforts, the man was brought to a nearby ladder.

Firefighters assisted police with the situation by utilizing a sling due to the height of the dock.

There’s no word on the extent of the injuries.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
