A provincial police investigation in the Thunder Bay District has led to a significant drug seizure and four arrests.
In April, the OPP began an investigation into a drug trafficking network allegedly supplying methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl to the Thunder Bay area and surrounding communities.
On July 17 and July 18, searches were conducted in two homes in Thunder Bay, as well as a vehicle and a mobile trailer in Kakabeka Falls.
During the investigation, the following items were seized:
- Loaded handgun
- 15g of suspected fentanyl
- 150g of suspected cocaine
- 84g of suspected methamphetamine
- 14 oxycodone tablets
- Fake identification
- A significant quantity of Canadian currency
- Cell phones
- Digital scales and packaging materials
- 2005 Honda street bike
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $27,000.

As a result, a 43-year-old from Red Rock is facing the following charges:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Operation of motor vehicle while prohibited
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possesses an identity document without lawful excuse
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a controlled substance
A 39-year-old from Nipigon is also facing the following charges:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Failure to comply with release order
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
Two Thunder Bay residents are also facing charges.
A 57-year-old and a 29-year-old have both been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Two of the accused were released from custody, while two remain in custody.
All four are scheduled with future court dates.
