May Weather Close To Typical For Thunder Bay

May was a typical month for weather in Thunder Bay, although it did end a bit cooler at night.

Environment Canada meteorologist Gerald Cheng tells us it is during spring when cooler air can bring overnight lows such as the -2 Celsius experienced last week.

“This is the time when the different air masses duke it out, and this is really the battleground, when sometimes the colder air masses from the north will win,” says Cheng.

The meteorologist adds we had maintained the average temperature just above 9 Celsius, and rainfall just over 66mm.

Cheng points out that rainfall was CLOSE to normal. “We had really two events, that gave us quite a bit of rain, on the 20th, and 22nd… but if we round it up, it came to be 67.4mm, which is right about average.”

The meteorologist says into June we can expect slightly warmer than normal days.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
