Driver Charged For Fleeing Police

Provincial police needed a spike belt to pull over a woman from Thunder Bay they say was speeding on the TransCanada.

OPP tell us on Tuesday afternoon they noticed the car moving at a high rate of speed on Highway 17 through White River.

When police tried to stop the driver, they say she sped up and continued heading west.

Police did not pursue for public safety, but noticed the car again speeding near Marathon, where again, the driver refused to stop.

A spike belt was used to stop the 28-year old, who was released from custody with a July court date.

  • Fail to stop for police HTA 216(1)
  • Speeding HTA 128
  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
