Confederation College is planning for their September semester, which will look different than years prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
President Kathleen Lynch describes what students can expect come September in terms of virtual versus in-person classes.
“Any technical requirements, health labs, those kind of things will be face to face,” Lynch said. “Wherever we can do online, so having the professor there teaching you at the same time you’re at home for any theory courses.”
The college usually draws a significant amount of international students, though travel restrictions cast uncertainty on enrollment from individuals outside of Canada.
Many students from India enroll each semester at Confederation College, though the growing case counts in that country have written a different story for the September semester.
“We definitely are being hurt by the border being closed with India because we obviously get a lot of students from India. So that is impacting our enrollment, we were pretty optimistic but things are changing daily,” said Lynch.
The President goes on to mention that while enrollment from international students has taken a hit, domestic applications are still rolling in steadily.
