If you’re over 40 and want the AstraZeneca vaccine, you can starting Tuesday.
The Ontario government announced Sunday night it’ll make the move due to the un-nerving rise of COVID-19 cases, using the current available supply.
The vaccine was available only to those over 55 due to concerns of a few cases of blood clots in younger people. Health officials maintain there is always risk involved, but the benefits outweigh any problems of the vaccine.
As for anyone over 18 receiving the vaccine, federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu pointed out under Health Canada’s guidelines, all provinces and territories are free to do so.
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says it’ll be available in pharmacies and care centres, and in Thunder Bay, there are four pharmacies offering the vaccine.
Ontario is receiving more federal help, and Premier Ford is reaching out for more international supply.
