Local Tech & Businesses Receive $5.3 Million From Feds

Five businesses and tech organizations in Thunder Bay are getting $5.3 million in federal government funding.

The money is coming through the regional development program FedNor.

Of those grants, $1.8 million is going to Northern Ontario Angels to support NOA’s continued expansion across Northern Ontario.

There is $1.5 million going to the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre to provide qualifying Northwestern Ontario small and medium-sized enterprises with the financial support of up to $25,000 to adopt digital technologies and e-business solutions.

As well, $1.3 million is being granted to the Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy, better known as CRIBE to develop and implement the Ontario Forest Bio-Products Innovation Network Project.

Splitting the rest of that money are Confederation College and Dawson Trail Craft Brewing.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
