If you are looking to buy a house for the first time in Thunder Bay, you are fortunate.
Slice.ca has listed our city as number five in the ten best cities in Canada to buy your first home.
It notes with more companies moving to the working-from-home model, it’s not really that important anymore to be based in the big city where all the jobs are.
It says we may be the hub for Northwestern Ontario, but we are still pretty small for a city.
The survey looked at cities with average home prices below $600,000 but did not use that as the only gauge.
It looked at factors like the area and ways your kids can be entertained, including skiing in winter, and one of Canada’s must-see waterfalls, Kakabeka Falls, which the article says “is close enough for a fun day trip.”
It also points out Thunder Bay has started to focus on knowledge-based industries, especially the health sciences, and is home to around 50 schools as well as Lakehead University and Confederation College.
