Another financial load has been taken off your shoulders as the Ontario government is extending lower electricity rates.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP and Energy Minister Greg Rickford says they are holding electricity prices to the off-peak rate of 8.5 cents per kilowatt-hour until February 9, when the order is scheduled to end.
The lower rate is again available 24 hours per day, seven days a week for Time-Of-Use and tiered customers, including families, small businesses, farms and those staying home during the Stay-at-Home order.
The rate came into effect January 1.
The Energy Minister adds if you have an overdue electricity and/or natural gas bill, you can still apply for support through the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program.
A residential customer can receive up to $750, while small businesses and charities can receive up to $1,500 for each bill.
