A long-term care home in the city, already under the microscope for its COVID-19 outbreak, is facing more scrutiny from health inspectors.
Southbridge has been ordered by the province to do a better job of infection control at its Roseview location in Thunder Bay.
The Ministry of Long-Term Care issued the order following a complaint-driven inspection of the facility last month.
Twenty residents of the home have died since an outbreak of COVID-19 began in November.
The company must make sure it conducts a documented infection control program for staff for each home unit.
The audit is required to show all proper pandemic protocols are taking place and must continue until there is minimum compliance of 95 percent which has been achieved for 30 consecutive days.
Southbridge says they have been meeting daily with health officials to assess its infection control measures, staffing, and PPE levels.
Officials add they have also hired a dedicated epidemiologist along with an infection control specialist who have been working there since December 24th.
