There is some confusion for a city business owner about the provincial COVID-19 lockdown.
Cathy Martin of Bill Martin’s Nurseryland tells us her business is forced to close to in-store shopping while others are not.
“To me, it’s not like a real lockdown if everybody can still go to the grocery store and liquor store…there’s still tons of businesses that you actually still go to and how is that safe for some and not for others?” laments Martin.
At the moment Martin is allowed to have curbside pick-up but that has not been enough to stop the hemorrhaging.
She tells us “sales are down quite a bit” over the holiday period compared to last season at the same time.
The store manager adds it all boils down to uncertainty since “One time we were told we were essential and then were told we are not, it’s confusing.”
