Traffic Stop Finds Contraband Cigarettes

A vehicle found with thousands of cartons of unmarked cigarettes has led to charges against a Winnipeg man.

Nipigon provincial police say they stopped the truck Sunday afternoon on Highway 11/17 in Shuniah Township, and found 12,750 cartons, and some Canadian money.

A 46-year-old man is charged with trafficking contraband tobacco and having proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police say he was released, and has a court date in March in Nipigon.
