The Shelter House is hoping for a significant year despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The organization’s Holiday Campaign is underway with the fundraising goal set at $200,000.
“We do understand that some people may not be able to give as much as they usually do,” says Executive Director Michelle Jordan, “but they can always give their time if they so choose to”.
Jordan notes the 2020 campaign has a significant focus on safety for everyone.
“We have plexiglass installed in the house. Our teams will be trained in proper usage of personal protective equipment to make sure they and clients are using it properly. We’re also asking crews to regularly clean the SOS van after every transport,” Jordan mentions.
When asked about how nervous she is about the rising case count within the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, Jordan stresses she’s been apprehensive since March.
“We monitor things daily. If procedures change we make the necessary adjustments, I mean they may change again in three days from now so we just have to keep responding to new regulations,” Jordan re-iterates.
