Health Unit Has COVID-19 Halloween Tips

With Halloween taking place during a pandemic those who take part are asked to stay safe.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille recommends homeowners who do take part should finding ways to distribute treats safely.

She suggests making a slide to deliver the goodies or using thongs.

The health official also asks you to respect those homeowners who choose not to participate this year.

“I think we need to respect that people may choose not to hand out tricks this year and certainly not play any tricks on them or anything. People are going to make their own decisions on whether they want to participate,” says DeMille.

Other Halloween tips during the pandemic include:

  • avoiding gatherings with people outside of your household;
  • staying home if you feel ill or have symptoms even if they are mild;
  • washing your hands often and thoroughly, or use hand sanitizer, especially when handing out treats.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
