It is a problem all too familiar for the residents of a northern First Nation
The community of Lansdowne House, also known as Neskantaga, was forced to completely shut down water going into homes Monday after officials discovered an unknown sheen in its water reservoir system.
Water samples have been taken but it could take up to 10 days to figure out what the problem is.
There is no indication when the water service can be brought back.
Chief Chris Moonias calls the situation “dehumanizing.”
Just over a year ago, the remote community declared an elevated state of emergency after their water pump and backup pumps broke down.
The residents have been under a boil water advisory for 25 years.
