Thunder Bay Blessed With Warm Start To Fall

Make sure you bask in this unusually warmer than normal start to Autumn.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson points out while the temperature for the last few days has been higher than the average of 16 degrees, it’ll change after Wednesday. “But in the short term, and beyond that, we’re looking at the temperature getting back to more seasonal value, to the end of this week, and also a bit more in the way of unsettled weather, some cloud and showers heading into the weekend.”

The meteorologist is crediting this warm trend to southern air blowing this way, but it’ll cool off after western air moves in later.

“We are going to see a shift of the wind coming in from the west, right in from the prairie and western states, and that is going to bring back these more seasonal conditions,” says Coulson.

On the lighter side, Environment Canada predicts a better long range forecast. “The longer term forecast for the whole fall season, October, November, December, is actually looking to be a bit warmer than normal for the Thunder Bay area, precipitation though, a little bit more uncertain.”

Environment Canada needs to get a bit more into the fall to get a better idea of how much rain could come.
