Taxpayers Won’t Shoulder COVID-19: PM

A promise from the Prime Minister taxpayers will not carry the cost of COVID-19.

Justin Trudeau pledges there will be no new taxes to pay for all the money the government is handing out. “We have work to do, and we are not going to be saddling Canadians with extra costs. We are going to be investing in the kind of things that are going to grow our economy, and that’s the kind of thinking I look forward to laying out in the Throne Speech.”

The federal government is expected to post a record deficit of 252 billion dollars this year because of COVID-19.

The Prime Minister has prorogued Parliament until September 23rd, saying the time is needed to set a new agenda, and Throne Speech.
