An emergency landing at Thunder Bay’s airport has resulted in charges for a Hamilton man.
Thunder Bay police were called to the airport Sunday night at around 9:30, asked to take a passenger off the plane.
They say during the Swoop Airlines flight from Hamilton to Edmonton, a smoke alarm was set off from the bathroom. After a 47-year old man returned to his seat from the bathroom, the crew found evidence he had been smoking. Police add he began swearing and insulting them.
The pilot landed in Thunder Bay after repeated requests for the accused to stop failed.
Police say he was charged with mischief over $5,000, smoking on a plane and causing a disturbance, and will appear in bail court Monday in Thunder Bay.
The plane continued heading to Edmonton.
