NDP Concerned Over Patchwork Of Rules

Ontario’s NDP feel there isn’t a clear set of visitation rules at long term care homes.

Official Opposition leader, Andrea Horwath said currently there is a patchwork of rules when visiting loved ones in homes.

“What we have is people who are feeling very cut off from their loved ones because there are no clear rules, there’s too little access,” Horwath said.

According to the NDP, some people are being asked to provide documentation proving they’ve tested negative for COVID-19, with some even being asked to take multiple tests, while others aren’t. Some are seeing their appointments cancelled because there aren’t enough staff to bring residents outside, while many are restricted to the arbitrary minimum of allowing just one family member visit only once per week for 30 minutes maximum.
