Local Grandfather Wins $100K

A 63-year-old grandfather from Thunder Bay is the latest lottery winner.

Morris Wapoose recently won $100,000 on his ENCORE numbers on a Lotto 6/49 draw at the end of May.

At a retailer, the cashier scanned the ticket at the lottery terminal and machine froze! “OLG called to tell me I was a big winner. When the receipt printed, I saw the amount. I was so excited but I held it in until I got out to the car where I cheered and danced,” he recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque.

The retired Matawa First Nations manager plans to pay off some bills and purchase a new vehicle.

“I’m going to buy myself a minivan. I’ve lost count of all my grandkids but I need to be able to drive them around,” he said.
