Businesses Asked To Open Taps Before Reopening

If you own or manage a building that’s been closed during the pandemic, the City is reminding you before you open to the public and returning staff to ensure there’s a freshwater supply.

Bare Point Water Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor, Erin Marcella-Fui tells us it’s a good idea to go to each tap in the building and let that water run.

“So they just need to go in and open up taps to draw in fresh water from the watermain on the street and in to the building. We just want to make sure they are flushing out the old water and bringing in new water into the building,” Marcella-Fui said.

The City says stagnant water can pose a serious health risk and that’s why they remind building managers and owners to flush their taps.
