Churches Welcome Ease Of Restrictions

Physical distancing measures will be found in Ontario churches as more people are allowed to return with COVID-19 restrictions gradually lifted.

Thunder Bay’s United Pentecostal Church is lead by Glenn Wittmeier, who tells us with only five people per service the last few weeks, he welcomes the news for Sunday morning and night services.

“The premier did the right move in going to the 30%, and I think it’s going to continue to work out well until we can fully open. Hoping the premier wasn’t going to go any longer with it because I know there were people wanting to go to church,” says the pastor.

Ever since social gatherings were reduced to five people, the church members took turns attending. He adds with the increased limit, he’ll make sure people sit far apart and masks will be mandatory.

“Make it as safe place as possible. And I believe that’s what church should be, and I do believe this was the right opportunity, because the scripture does remind us that we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, especially toward the time and hour we live in,” notes the Court Street North pastor.

Wittmeier notes other denominations shouldn’t have a problem with the increased numbers, including the Catholic church, which is also gathering with similar restrictions.
