Roots to Harvest has been busy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Spokesperson Erin Beagle tells us they had to quickly pivot their programs to help feed many in the city.
“We put together over 400 family food packages and we reached over 900 kids every week that has 20 meals in them per package. Over the last ten weeks that’s 180,000 meals that we have gotten out to kids,” Beagle said.
Roots to Harvest also helps feed seniors providing 120 packages every week.
“That has 40 meals in it and over the past eight weeks that’s almost 140,000 meals,” Beagle said.
The charity is also working with the Indigenous Friendship Centre to provide food to elders each month as well.
