Fewer Clients Concerns Health Centre

There’s concern at the NorWest Community Health Centre in Thunder Bay about the addicts they are helping.

CEO Juanita Lawson explains they have found during the pandemic some have not been coming around to the harm reduction site for their supervised injections.

“The concern around people who are activily using substances is that if they’re not supervised or if they’re not with someone who has Naloxone or injecting alone that is does create a greater risk for them in terms of their overall health and safety,” stresses Lawson.

The Health Centres CEO notes it’s “just making people aware that we are open and we still have a nurse on site and a harm reduction worker who are available to support people.”

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
