Vanderwees Welcomes Customers Back

As businesses in the province continue to come back online during the COVID-19 pandemic, Thunder Bay’s Vanderwees Garden Gallery has been navigating those waters since May 4th.

Owner John Vanderwees tells us for the most part customers have been understanding in following their health and safety rules including wearing a mask before entering the store.

“There have been some customers that have been adverse to the idea of wearing a mask, but its just something that makes our staff feel more comfortable, and we think the safety of our staff and our customers is the most important and that’s why we have that policy,” Vanderwees said.

For those customers who didn’t bring a mask, Vanderwees has been selling them at either $2 or $4 depending on the type selected.

The province gave the green light to garden centres and nurseries to open their doors on Friday, but Vanderwees was allowed to open earlier because they are considered an essential service under food production and grocery.
