Local Salvation Army Major Moving On

Our local Salvation Army is saying goodbye to one of its leaders.

Major Lori Mitchell is being re-assigned elsewhere because the organization has merged its two Ontario divisions into one.

The local Sally Ann says her new position will be based in Toronto, but she will oversee the building of the Journey to Life Centre on Cumberland Street and return to the city several times.

“I know that the work will be carried out in exemplary fashion by the strong, dedicated team who will continue to serve here,” said Major Mitchell in a statement.

Her new duties are not known at this time, and the Thunder Bay Salvation Army says her replacement has not been named yet.

The organization adds they are working to “ensure a smooth transition and continuity” of services in Thunder Bay.
