Minister Feels For Families During Pandemic

The province’s minister for Children, Community and Social Services admits it’s not an ideal situation for families who need additional help during the pandemic.

Todd Smith says they are trying to offer as much help and service to everyone.

“It’s just a difficult time for everyone, we are trying to do as much as we can to ensure that the service delivery will continue in some form or another either through Telehealth Ontario or a virtual platform,” Smith said.

Smith’s comments come after families with autistic children are demanding more provincial supports.

“We have changed a number of programs to allow for services to be delivered online in a virtual type setting, I think that’s very important. Obviously not ideal given the current situation but very little is ideal in this current situation. I feel for those families who have had their world’s turned upside down,” Smith said.

The Minister of Children, Community and Social Services reiterated the province is providing $250 a month to families with special needs.
