An employee of the Real Canadian Superstore has tested positive for COVID-19.
An email to customers indicates the store is undergoing a “deep cleaning” and will reopen on Saturday morning at 7 o’clock.
Parent company Loblaw says the employee hasn’t been in the store since March 30.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says the risk to shoppers is low.
They add only customers who used the PC Express pick-up service on March 30 2020 between 10 am and 6 pm may have been exposed to COVID-19, and will contact those customers.
Workers wearing full protective gear could be seen walking in the store.
The store says it is reaching out to the public health authority to investigate the colleagues recent shifts and direct contacts.
Potentially exposed colleagues have been instructed to stay home and self isolate and that “out of an abundance of caution” they are notifying customers who recently shopped at the store.
The Health Unit received the results from this case of COVID-19 on April 9.
