Business Owner Producing Face Masks

A Thunder Bay business owner is trying to help produce face masks for those who want to wear them during the COVID crisis.

Valarie Midgley notes the masks are not for health care workers, but for those in the general public.

She is making the masks from cotton and polypropylene and suggests they could provide up to 70 percent protection.

The business owner stresses the masks are not total protection “from everything” but it will “help keep your hands off your face.”

Midgley says they are ready to ship the masks and already have had interest from Toronto, Winnipeg, and even Australia.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
