Teachers’ Protest Still Going Ahead

Looks like the weather is not getting in the way of a one day strike by Catholic teachers and education workers.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association is going ahead with its one day strike today, with the local board telling our newsroom it will as well, in spite of the weather.

This is happening in spite of negotiations yesterday with the provincial government. Local union representative Carlo Capello adds negotiations are continuing today with the government.

And, students of Franco-Superior and La Verendrye schools in Thunder Bay will join all Catholic students for a day off as well.

The union representing their school board, the AEFO, has called for another one day strike for teachers and education workers to protest its dispute with the Ford government over contract negotiations.

The AEFO union adds daycares will stay open at the two Thunder Bay schools.
