The Chamber of Commerce is pleased with the city’s 2020 budget.
President Charla Robinson says there were a lot of good conversations about the city’s future.
“There’s a longer-term process around reducing city spending and prioritizing city spending, so I thought that was a really good conversation.”
The Chamber President says they are happy council was able to bring down the tax levy increase to 2.73 percent. The increase is around 1.89% after growth.
“So they were able to bring it down from the starting point of the 6.1-million, but also recognize they’re needing to put some steps in place toward further changes.”
She also likes that there was a good conversation about further cost savings in the future.
“Asking for some further information, some of the items of spending they’ve told the administration to not actually spend the money, but we’re putting it in the budget, but you can’t spend it until we have this larger discussion later.”
