South Side Beating Now Homicide

Police are expected to lay additional charges in relation to what is now being deemed a murder investigation on the city’s south side.

Detective Inspector John Fennell tells us they are still in the early stages of their investigation and that’s why they can’t provide details like what type of weapon was used in the Syndicate Avenue North attack. “We are still only a week into the investigation and we are still learning new details pertaining to the investigation and as things unfold, I’m sure it will change over time.”

Police say they expect to lay additional charges in relation to two other individuals who were in the home and were also attacked, and an upgraded charge in relation to the death of 18 year old Austin Peter Robinson who was brutally assaulted and passed away over the weekend.

On January 9th, police were called to a Syndicate Avenue home just before 3 o’clock in the morning, to reports of a break and enter. Police eventually arrested a 14-year-old, and 19-year-old Cody Echum of Thunder Bay, and charge them with aggravated assault.

Police say A 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also assaulted with a weapon during the incident.
