The owner of the Santorelli’s Truck Stop says an early morning robbery of her Arthur Street gas station, is the first time an incident like this has happened at that station in over 40 years.
Annette Santorelli tells us, unfortunately, a man walked into her gas station just after 5 am and injured one of her employees.
“Our employee, I think is incredibly brave he tried to protect the till and the money, which he shouldn’t have done, he put himself at risk, but what a brave young man.”
The owner of Santorelli’s Truck Stop is considering closing the store part of her station overnight and allowing only pay at the pump in light of the recent attack. She says, “I understand now why other stations are closing their stores after midnight and installing safety windows rather than having people just walk in. We just put in pay-at-the-pump so if this continues we may have to consider closing the midnight.”
Santorelli tells us the person who robbed them took $500 from the till. She is also thanking people for sharing her post to social media that shared an image from security footage of the robbery suspect.
Police have a 39-year-old man in custody and investigators have connected this suspected to three separate robberies that occurred this morning. The man is facing charges of Robbery, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle x 2, Fail to Stop for Police x 2, and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
