Premier Says Support Coming For City Police

There are assurances from the premier that police concerns in Thunder Bay will be addressed. Police Association member Jason Rybak told Doug Ford about the guns and gangs, mental health and addiction issues officers here face daily.

Local police members also met at Queen’s Park yesterday with the solicitor general and regional MPPs.

The provincial lawmakers were told there was a need for proper funding for social issues, bigger detox facilities, and mental health resources.

He tells us Premier Ford assured them he is aware of the issues and told them “support’s coming.”

The police association member hopes they are not “hollow words.”

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
