UPDATE 3:50 pm: Fatality Confirmed In 11/17 Collision

Tragedy on the Trans-Canada Highway on the outskirts of the city with the death of a Fort Frances man.

OPP say 39-year-old Joel Walton was struck by a transport truck as he was walking along Highway 11/17 just after 5 o’clock this morning.

They report it happened in an area west of Fraser Road.

It forced the closure of the Trans-Canada for six hours before the scene was cleared.

The investigation is continuing.
