Poverty Activists Gather At City Hall

Thunder Bay’s poverty organizations gathered Thursday at City Hall to spread awareness of the issues that lead people to become homeless.

Spokesperson Steve Mantis says they know people in our community are cash strapped.

“The causes of poverty are related to provincial and federal laws and jurisdictions and they have an important part to play as well.”

The poverty official notes the municipality also has work to do to end poverty.

Mantis says there around 15,000 people living in poverty in our city.
