Lakehead University students are spending the fall, deciding whether or not they want to opt-in or out of certain student fees.
Student Union President Masoud Manzouri tells us students will have to make a decision for each of their fees.
“For each and every non-essential fee they have to decide either to opt-in or opt-out for every non-essential fee.”
The move was brought on by the provincial government deciding earlier this year students could choose not to pay for certain ancillary fees.
Manzouri warns it could have a huge impact on the future services they provide.
“We’re expecting that not more than 10 percent of students will opt-in to those optional fees, and in the future, those services may not be available anymore, or as much as it once was in the past.”
Lakehead University students can opt-in at any time, but once they have opted-in they cannot opt-out.
