The Loch Ness Monster Might Be …

A team of international scientists have been intensively studying the waters of Loch Ness in Scotland to try and figure out the mystery behind the Loch Ness Monster and they think that Nessie might be … AN EEL!

The experts scanned the lake, analyzing DNA and came across around 3,000 different species but none of them were related to anything like a dinosaur, sturgeon or other things people have theorized Nessie could be. What they did find, however, was a lot of evidence of eels, and they have a theory that people have been seeing giant eels over the years, not a sea monster. The lead researcher, though, says they could have missed the Loch Ness Monster, so hope is still alive!

I was lucky to travel to Scotland with my Mom several years ago. We took a bus tour to Loch Ness. It was so surreal to be on a boat in the middle of this lake I’d heard about my entire life! We didn’t see Nessie but some Japanese tourists from our group said they did! They were so excited I tend to believe them.

A funny side-note: This was a small bus tour. Maybe 15 or 20 travelers from around the world. My Mom and I went to the bus pick-up in Glasgow and weren’t quite sure if we were in the right place. We saw a couple dude who looked like they were waiting for something so we approached them to ask if they were waiting for the bus. As they turned to us we saw that one of them was wearing a … LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY HOODIE! They were both students at LU! So crazy. It’s a small world.
