Harley Quinn On The Small Screen

As if there weren’t enough streaming services to be excited about, the DC Universe streaming service which has been operating for about a year now has just released a trailer that makes me think I need to add a membership to that as well. Now, DC hasn’t really been doing too well movie wise, but their animated shows (Superman The Animated Series, Batman The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, etc.) have all been incredibly good. With any streaming service you have to expect there will be some more adult geared content, and you’d be right. The first one that has been announced is a stand alone Harley Quinn animated show starring Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory) as the title character. As a villain, I’ve had no issues with Harley Quinn and I completely understand the attraction to this fun loving, foul mouthed lady. I just hope the back story (the mental, physical and emotional abuse Harley suffered at the hands of The Joker) is explored a bit before a new group of young women decide that Harley is their hero and the love story between her and Mr. J is just ‘the dreamiest’. I haven’t decided for sure that I’ll add this streaming service yet, but I am definitely interested in watching the Harley Quinn show.

The casting alone is exciting, Alan Tudyk, Jim Rash, Chris Meloni, Wanda Sykes, Jason Alexander…some great voices on the show! Check out the details of the show here.

I’ve posted the first trailer below, be warned though, there is some definite NOT SAFE FOR WORK language in this, and it’s very violent! Let me know what you think about the show in the comments!

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
