Deadline Looms To Win Curling Event

Organizers hoping to win a major national curling event for Thunder Bay say they need you to buy tickets, volunteer or, if you’re a business, sponsor.

Rick Lang is co-chair of the local bid to win the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, and says they need to convince Curling Canada.

“I personally believe it’s probably the biggest sporting event we can have in Thunder Bay, in terms of 60 hours of TSN coverage throughout the week, huge national media coverage, fan interest.”

The deadline to put the bid in to Curling Canada is June 30th.

Sarah Potts is lead with the Krista McCarville rink, and says Thunder Bay is great for hosting events because people come out.

“You have the school kids come in, and they’re on the sidelines cheering too. I think Thunder Bay would do a great job.”
