New Tourism Group Promoting City

If you’re looking to explore Thunder Bay in a unique way, Destination Thunder Bay could help you.

Events Director Emily Shandruck points out they customize tours of the area for whatever a group wants.

“What are they looking for? Are they looking for something with food, do they want more of an outdoor activity? and then we create that together. Everything we do is unique to the group we work with.”

Kerry Berlinquette calls herself the Chief Fun Herder.

“Liam [Dowds] who has the helicopters, Sail Superior, a fishing lodge, it goes on and on. Seeing those people that work very hard, because Thunder Bay is a challenging destination for tourism.”

She also gets a thrill from what happens when taking people up High Street.

“When we reach the crest of that hill, and they can all of a sudden see the lake with the Sleeping Giant, there was always 100% an audible gasp, and that was my favourite part of my entire day, because people would always say ‘What is that?'”

Destination Thunder Bay adds more people are becoming curious about this area, with major growth on the horizon.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
