High Radon Levels In Area

Thunder Bay’s Health Unit has found high levels of the dangerous gas radon in Oliver Paipoonge and Marathon.

The study was conducted in the fall of 2017 and the spring of 2018 on around 100 homes in each community.

Spokesperson Erica Sawula tells us 65% of homes in Oliver Paipoonge and 17% of homes in Marathon tested for high levels of the radioactive gas.

It is suggested if you live in those areas to test your home for radon and seal off cracks in your home to prevent it from getting in to your house.

The Health Unit is holding radon workshops at the Murillo Library on November 21st and the following day at the Rosslyn Library.
